THE SHORT VERSION

Here are the key points before you read the full Terms:

  • Returns: Change of mind — 30 days, original condition, tags on, return or exchange. Faulty items — your full rights under Australian Consumer Law always apply.
  • Hygiene items: No returns on tights, underwear or body jewellery (hygiene reasons). Faulty? Always covered.
  • Pointe shoes: Exchange only within 30 days, unworn and in original packaging.
  • Sizing: We strongly recommend in-store fitting, especially for pointe shoes. Size guides are a starting point, not a guarantee.
  • Pricing errors: If a product is listed at an incorrect price due to a system error, we will contact you before processing your order.
  • Your data: Handled under our Privacy Policy. We do not sell your information.

1. ABOUT THESE TERMS

These Terms of Service ("Terms") apply when you visit thestageshop.com.au or make a purchase from us — online, in store, or by phone. "We", "us" and "our" refer to The Stage Shop, operated by Stage Collective Pty Ltd, trading from 50 Sir Donald Bradman Drive, Mile End SA 5031.

By using this website or purchasing from us, you agree to these Terms. Our website is hosted on Shopify Inc., whose own terms govern how they host and process data on our behalf.

2. YOUR RIGHTS UNDER AUSTRALIAN CONSUMER LAW

Our products come with guarantees under the Australian Consumer Law (ACL) that we cannot exclude. You are entitled to a replacement or refund for a major failure, and compensation for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage. You are also entitled to have goods repaired or replaced if they fail to be of acceptable quality.

Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes any right or remedy you have under the ACL. Where there is any inconsistency, the ACL prevails.

If a product is faulty, not fit for purpose, or does not match its description, we will resolve this in accordance with your ACL rights.

3. RETURNS & EXCHANGES

Our full Returns & Exchanges policy is available on our website. 

By purchasing from us, you agree to that policy.

In all cases, your rights under the Australian Consumer Law apply and cannot be excluded. If a product is faulty, not fit for purpose, or does not match its description, we will provide a remedy in accordance with those rights regardless of the conditions set out in our Returns Policy.

4. SIZING, FIT & PRODUCT ACCURACY

Dancewear sizing varies significantly between brands. Our size guides are a helpful starting point, but we strongly recommend visiting us in store where possible, especially for pointe shoes, character shoes and fitted costumes. If you are unsure, please contact us before ordering.

Pointe shoes

Pointe shoe fitting requires specialist knowledge and in-person assessment. Purchasing pointe shoes online without a professional fitting is done at your own risk. We strongly recommend booking an in-store fitting with one of our trained staff. We are not liable for injury, discomfort or unsuitability arising from self-fitted pointe shoe purchases.

Colours & images

We do our best to display accurate product colours, but screen calibration varies and fabric colours can look slightly different in person. If colour accuracy is critical (e.g. matching a uniform), please contact us and we will advise or provide a swatch where possible.

5. ORDERING & PAYMENT

When you place an order, you are making an offer to purchase. An order confirmation email confirms we have received your order — not necessarily that all items are confirmed in stock. We reserve the right to decline any order.

Prices are in Australian dollars (AUD) and include GST unless otherwise stated. Prices are subject to change without notice.

Pricing errors

If a product is listed at an incorrect price due to a system or data error, we will contact you before processing your order. You will have the option to proceed at the correct price or receive a full refund. We will not charge your payment method for a corrected price without your explicit approval.

All online transactions are encrypted and processed securely. We do not store your full card details.

Pre-orders & backorders

Estimated arrival dates for pre-orders and backorders are indicative only and subject to supplier lead times. If a significant delay occurs, we will contact you and give you the option to wait, swap to an alternative product, or cancel for a full refund.

6. SHIPPING & DELIVERY

We ship across Australia. Delivery timeframes and costs are shown at checkout. Once your order is collected by a courier, delivery is managed by that third party. We are not responsible for courier delays, but we will assist in tracing missing parcels where possible. Risk of loss passes to you once your order is collected by the courier. We recommend selecting tracked shipping where available.

We currently ship within Australia only.

7. YOUR ACCOUNT

You are responsible for keeping your account login details secure and for all activity under your account. You agree to provide accurate and current information when creating an account or placing an order. You must be 18 or over to create an account, or have a parent or guardian's permission.

8. INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY

All content on this website — including text, images, logos, product photography and design — is owned by or licensed to The Stage Shop and is protected by copyright. You may not reproduce, distribute or use our content without our written permission.

9. PRIVACY

How we collect, use and store your personal information is explained in our Privacy Policy, available on our website. We do not sell your personal information to third parties. You can unsubscribe from marketing communications at any time.

10. GIFT CARDS

Stage Shop gift cards are valid for 3 years from the date of purchase. They can be used in-store and online. They cannot be exchanged for cash and are not replaceable if lost or stolen. No inactivity fees apply.

11. LIMITATION OF LIABILITY

To the extent permitted by Australian law, our liability to you for any claim is limited to the amount you paid for the relevant product or service. We are not liable for indirect or consequential losses to the extent we can exclude such liability under Australian law. Nothing in this section limits your rights under the Australian Consumer Law.

12. WHAT YOU MUST NOT DO

When using our website, please do not:

  • Use it for anything unlawful or to facilitate unlawful activity
  • Attempt to hack, disrupt or damage our website or systems
  • Collect other users' personal information without consent
  • Upload viruses, malware or harmful code
  • Impersonate someone else or provide false information
  • Resell or commercially exploit access to our website without our permission

13. CHANGES TO THESE TERMS

We may update these Terms from time to time. The current version is always available on this page with the "Last updated" date at the top. Your continued use of the site after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

14. GOVERNING LAW

These Terms are governed by the laws of South Australia and the Commonwealth of Australia. Any disputes will be subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of South Australia. We encourage you to contact us directly in the first instance to resolve any concerns.
